Senior Principal, Consumer | Mega Fund | California
Metamorphic is partnering with one of the world's leading private equity firms on a Senior Principal hire for their Consumer & Retail investment team, based on the West Coast (San Francisco or Los Angeles).
This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier mega fund at a senior deal level, with a clear pathway to Managing Director and meaningful carry participation from day one. The Consumer & Retail platform invests across food and beverage, beauty and personal care, consumer health, restaurants, specialty retail and direct-to-consumer brands, with cheque sizes typically ranging from $500m to $2bn+ of equity.
The opportunity
The Senior Principal will play a leading role in sourcing, executing and managing investments across the Consumer landscape on the West Coast. Working closely with the Managing Director group, you will own deal processes end-to-end, mentor a team of Associates and VPs, and take a hands-on role with portfolio companies through to exit. The firm is known for a long-hold, value-creation-led approach, with a deep in-house operating partner bench and a global LP base.
Responsibilities
- Lead origination across the West Coast Consumer ecosystem, including proprietary thesis-led sourcing and intermediated processes
- Run diligence and execution workstreams from first meeting through to signing and closing
- Sit on portfolio company boards and partner with management teams on value creation plans
- Develop and mentor the Associate and Vice President cohort within the team
- Represent the firm externally with LPs, advisors, founders and management teams
Candidate profile
- 8 to 12 years of relevant investing experience, the majority within private equity at a recognised mid-market or mega fund
- A demonstrable track record of Consumer & Retail deals at the lead or co-lead level
- Top-tier academic background, MBA preferred but not essential
- Currently operating at Principal or Senior Principal level, with appetite to step up into a Managing Director seat over the medium term
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or Los Angeles
Package
Highly competitive, in line with leading mega fund benchmarks for the level. Indicative structure includes a base salary in the region of $300,000 to $400,000, target cash bonus of 100 to 150 per cent of base, and meaningful carry participation across current and future funds.
